Brief report of Research & Development

The Research & Development, Department of Mechanical Engineering is basically a Centre involved actively in the research of advanced materials such as Metal Matrix Composite, Polymer Metal Matrix, Nanotechnology, Carbon Nanotubes, Thermal Barrier Coatings and Finite Element / Volume Analysis areas. The main objective of this centre is to establish and encourage close interaction between the institute (staff & students) and industries in research work.

The achievements of R&D are:
  • Published 150 research articles in International Refereed Journals such as Wear, Journal of Materials Science, Journal of Material Engineering & Performance, Metallurgy and Materials Science, Corrosion Science Alloys and Compounds, etc.
  • Presented / published more than 300 research papers in National and International Journals.
  • Successfully completed more than 100 research projects sponsored by Government. and Non-Government organizations such as LRDE, DRDO, NRB, ARB, IPR, Ministry of Environmental and Forest, DST, UGC, AICTE, CSIR, CABS, etc.
  • Developed more than 25 new advanced materials especially in Metal Matrix Composites and Polymer Matrix Composites.
  • Established state of art research facilities.
  • 35 Doctoral and 20 Master Degrees have been awarded so far.
  • A number of consultancy works has been successfully completed.
  • A number of papers in collaboration with International Scientists have been published. International Collaborative Research Works
  • The Centre has to its credit collaborative research publications with various professors of foreign Universities.
  • The Research & Development Centre recently has concluded an agreement of exchange and co-operation in research with The University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM), USA to establish direct relationship in order to jointly pursue basic and applied research of mutual collaborative interest.
Achievements in the last Three Years
  • Eight Professors, Asst. Professors and Lecturers have been given Research Awards by UGC. The Awardees salaries for three years are being paid by UGC.
  • Ten research scholars have been awarded Doctorate degree and two more scholars have submitted their thesis and waiting for the degree.
  • Presently eight staff of R V College and Five staff from different engineering colleges have enrolled for PhD Degree.
  • Four students have been awarded with MS Degree from BITS, Pilani.
  • Twelve Students of Mechanical Engineering Dept. are doing MS Degree in University of Aachen, Germany with scholarship.

The official students forum of the department is "YANTRA?, which conducts seminars, workshops, technical events and industrial visits to help the students improve their knowledge and develop leadership qualities.
