RVCE is one of the premier Engineering Institutes in Karnataka. It was
established in the year 1963 by the great visionary Late. Sri. M. C. Shivananda
Sharma, Founder Secretary of Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST). RVCE is a
name to reckon with and has created a niche for itself in the field, not only in
the state of Karnataka but also at the National & International levels. RVCE has
set high academic standards for itself. Since 1963, it has become a panache of
RSST. The institution is affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University
(VTU) and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
R V College of Engineering, started in 1963 with courses in Mechanical, Civil
and Electrical disciplines has grown in size and stature over the years. The
college has a sprawling campus, spread over 53 acres, situated near the 13th
Kilometer on Bangalore ? Mysore Highway. RVCE offers Graduate Engineering
Courses in 12 different branches and 12 Post Graduate courses in M.Tech and MCA
with a total intake of over 1000 students. Being a leader in Imparting
Engineering Education in the country, RVCE has formed part of the golden
crescent and burst into a league that forms the upper echelons of engineering
education. It has been rated among the top 10 engineering institutions in the

The Department of MEchanical Engineering
RVCE recognizes the stream of Mechanical Engineering as one of the core and
versatile branches of engineering which has witnessed immense popularity among
the students as well as their employer due to tremendous opportunities that it
offers for diverse technological applications.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1963 to prepare
students for various branches of the industry. The curriculum consists of
theoretical and experimental courses in mechanics, material science,
thermodynamics, design, manufacturing technologies, control systems, energy,
mass and heat transfer, robotics, management subjects. The most important
element of the UG program is to prepare mechanical engineering students with
improved self confidence and individual initiative.
